Cottonwood's springtime buds are filled with amber-colored resin that provide a delicious vanilla caramel scent. These buds are rich in essential oils, salicin, and other compounds that make them antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing. This salve is often referred to as Balm of Gilead, after a biblical story of another heal-all balm. Combined with the needles of beloved evergreen trees, Balsam Fir, Eastern Hemlock, and Eastern White Pine, this salve makes for a truly one of a kind salve for any tree lover.
